Ambemohar Rice is a traditional, short-grain rice variety grown in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, especially in the Pune, Nasik, and Raigad districts. The name “Ambemohar” literally means “mango blossom”, referring to the rice’s uniquely sweet, fruity aroma that resembles the fragrance of mango flowers.
This heirloom rice is soft, delicate, and slightly sticky when cooked, making it ideal for festive dishes like bhat, varan-bhat, and kheer, as well as daily meals. Ambemohar is prized for its taste, digestibility, and heritage, often favored by those who appreciate traditional Indian flavors.
